I don't see why its ranked so low. I'm currently spending a 2 month extended vacation in Japan. I've only been in Tokyo and there is so much to do and see here. Everyone is so friendly and helpful, as I don't speak much of a drop of Japanese.

Even just aimlessly roaming the streets here is a pleasure.

For a view of old Japan you could take a day trip to Kamakura from Tokyo. Also you could take a bullet train to Kyoto.

Love it here.

Hey Norway and Paul! Being fluent in English and having a full Bachelor Degree, as Japan Australia mentioned above, can really help. Specifically if you're looking to teach English. Be sure to research your options and check out sites like Gaijinpot's Jobs to get a feel for what's out there and apply where you can. It's always easier if you find a job before you go :)

Hi.

How hard is it for non-native English speakers to find a part time job in Japan? I'm going to apply for a Working Holiday Visa in June, and was wondering how difficult it's gonna be finding a job to support my stay in Japan. I have a bachelor's degree and speak English fluently, although I have no experience teaching English.

Thanks

Hello Ashley. So glad you like the idioms. There's lots more to come :) I used the site http://www.agoda.com/ when I was looking for places in Tokyo. It worked well. Not sure how extensive the listing are outside the major centres, but it's a good starting point.

I'm a huge fan of quotes and idioms, one of my favorites is "Ever tried? Ever failed? No matter. Try again. Fail again. Fail better."
Also the advices from the creed of the samurai, Bushido, are great. Also the little riddles masters ask their students in order to see if they made progress. "Is the water the wave or the wave the water?" I think they are called Koan, but please correct me if I'm wrong.
At the moment I'm looking for hotels in Japan and browse sites like www.trivago.ca .However, do you have any recommendations?

Hello Eager_student. While I'm certainly not an expert in what it takes to teach English in Japan, starting to learn the Japanese language and taking courses in teaching English as a second language would would look great on a resume. You'll almost certainly need a degree to get a visa but it doesn't seem to always matter if that degree has anything to do with teaching.
