Weaker Yen Drives Tourism

I was amazed when I checked the value of the Japanese Yen versus the Canadian Dollar last week. I haven’t seen the Yen this low in a long time. Even just after the earthquake the conversion rate wasn’t this high. According to News on Japan:

The weaker yen has both positive and negative impacts on Japan’s travel industry, with the number of foreign travelers to Japan increasing but fewer Japanese travelling overseas.

The tourism numbers have already jumped 26% from the previous year. So if you’ve been planning a trip to Japan, now might be a good time to go. I know it’s got me tempted :)
