Cute Things from Japan – Re-Ment

Cute things from Japan - Re-ment

You know how there are some things that are so cool and you like to pretend that you are the only one who knows about them – like that indie band or that adorable shop. And so you don’t tell others about it because if everyone knows about it, it won’t be as cool. That’s kind of the way I feel about Re-ment.

I LOVE it! And I like to pretend that I am the only one that knows about it. But I am going to be mature and realize that I can like things even if other people like them too.

(I think) Also, a lot more people have discovered it anyway.

And so I present re-ment – the cutest things ever.

I think I first discovered it on the internet. It’s kind of hard to remember because my memory only begins once I knew re-ment, everything up to that point was just preparing me for discovering re-ment.

I loved the tiny, tiny, tininess of re-ment and yet how they were still so perfectly detailed. I loved the themes of cupcakes and and mushrooms. I loved the descriptions. But I didn’t actually have any.

And then a wonderful person came to my town and agreed to teach us some Japanese. Of course, I started asking all about re-ment. They came with a piece of gum and you could get them in combi stores or flea markets. You couldn’t pick exactly which one as it was a surprise, but you could choose the theme. They weren’t that expensive either – only about 300 yen or so. And this sweet friend offered to send me some on her next trip back home to Japan. Heart attacks of cute overload all around!

Well, when I got that package in the mail, I almost fainted on the spot! Just look how cute they are. Here is a bento with a space theme:

The thermos is a robot!

And the utensils are wrenches!!!

And the meal itself! Adorable.

But the ones I covet the most and do not have are these ones:

You can buy re-ment on ebay and other websites in Canada and the States are now offering them. So let’s all have lots of re-ment puchi petits!

If you have all kinds of re-ment and especially the ones I dream of, feel free to taunt me in the comments section below.

I was lucky enough to live in Japan for a year when I was in my 20s. I’m in my 40s now. Anyway, I thought EVERYTHING there was just so cute. Cute little thermoses, Hello Kitty, cute pencil cases and lunch boxes. I could go on and on.

It would be so interesting Kikipotamus for you to go to Japan now and see what you find different. If you ever do that, please let me know!

And yes, everything is so cute! The bento stuff is soo cute too. I may have to get some of that too now.
