Cute Things From Japan – Sylvanian Families

A story. One day a young girl was watching TV and the cutest commercial ever came on. It was cute little miniature animals, all dressed in people clothes but still fuzzy and furry and they had a whole little miniature world. She loved, loved, loved that commercial. And so when it came on again, she dared to ask her Mom if she could get them.
Her Mom said yes! They didn’t have a lot of spending money, and even asking for a toy was a bit out of bounds, but then to ask and actually receive a yes – well, that is the pinnacle of life…
But they lived in a small town and there weren’t any toy stores, so she would only get one if they happened to find it on the rare times they went to the city. She would always keep her eyes open, always looking for the sweetest, little innocent forest animals that she was actually allowed to have.
Time passed, and she never did see them them and she never did get to own one of her very own.
Are you crying yet? =) What I’m trying to do is get across why I am a little too obsessed with Sylvanian Families from Japan. It’s all rooted in childhood so it’s ok to own lots of them as a adult – see, don,t you agree?=)
So when I came across Sylvanian families at Yodoboshi, I almost had a heartattack with cuteness overload. I actually had a hard time breathing. Yodoboshi in itself is amazing, but this was beyond wonderful.
I didn’t know Sylvanian families was a Japanese product and so to suddenly come upon aisles of them was a dream come true. And they weren’t even that expensive.
These adorable little guys each come with their own little story. They have families, jobs, history, outfits, houses – ..they have so many little things to keep one excited.
